The Use of a Simulated Nursing Practice Lab in a Distance Practical Nursing Program
Abstract
Background
This study was designed to provide simulated clinical scenarios for practical nursing students in a distance education program.
Method
This mixed methods pre–post test experimental design study used a nonprobability convenience sample of 33 students.
Results
Participation in simulation scenarios resulted in a statistically significant increase in student knowledge. Students also revealed an increased sense of connectedness and self-confidence.
Conclusion
The project proved to be an effective strategy for teaching nursing in a distance learning program.
